Muralmatics Apprenticeship
The Muralmatics Apprenticeship offers emerging artists an immersive, hands-on experience in the world of large-scale mural installations while equipping them with essential business skills. This program provides in-depth training on the entire mural creation process, from conceptual design to final installation, with a strong focus on community engagement and social impact.
Apprentices will gain practical knowledge in identifying and responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), understanding contracts, and managing project logistics. This includes key business practices such as defining services, ensuring site access, addressing liability, and handling copyright issues.
In addition to technical skills, the apprenticeship emphasizes health and safety, teaching apprentices to protect themselves from the hazards associated with mural work, such as using spray paint, and ensuring they manage the physical demands of working outdoors, including stretching and staying hydrated. Apprentices will learn effective strategies for project documentation and will be introduced to record-keeping practices that support successful mural projects. This comprehensive training prepares apprentices to thrive as professional muralists while preserving the authenticity and essence of mural art.
